Candidate Information for 2014 General Local Election

2014 Elections

Nomination packages including information and nomination forms are available at Town Hall starting Friday, August 22, 2014.  The nomination period begins at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 and ends at 4:00 PM on Friday, October 10, 2014, excluding statutory holidays and weekends. Nomination forms are to be filed at Town Hall during the nomination period.

To qualify to be nominated, a person must be:

  • A Canadian citizen;
  • 18 years of age or older;
  • Resident of British Columbia for at least six months immediately before the day nomination papers are filed;
  • A person or the commander of an armed forces unit who has been granted freedom of the municipality, if that person is a Canadian citizen; and
  • Not disqualified by the Local Government Act or any other enactment from voting in an election in British Columbia or from being nominated for, being elected to, or holding office.

If you obtained nomination documents from this site please check regularly for any notices regarding changes to the nomination documents or send an email to the Chief Election Officer, Janette Van Vianen at jvv@osoyoos.ca and you will be notified directly of any changes or important information regarding the nomination process.

Please ensure your documents are in order and filed no later than 4:00 PM on October 10, 2014. Incomplete nomination documents cannot be accepted as being filed on time so please allow sufficient time for filing.

Further, to be nominated for Water Councillor, a person must be resident in and user of water in the area serviced by Osoyoos Rural Water District Systems 8 or 9.
