Turn Your Engine Off - Save $ and Spare Our Air

The Town of Osoyoos is taking steps to make our community healthier and greener.
In order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the Town has launched an "anti-idling" campaign.  This campaign involves both policy and public education components.  In March 2010, Town Council adopted Vehicle/Equipment Idle Control Policy 4.1.5 that will eliminate all unnecessary vehicle idling within municipal fleets.  You can see our trucks proudly displaying a "Turn Your Engine Off" decal on the window.

Learn why shutting off your engine (except when in traffic) is better than letting it idle for longer than 10 seconds.  With prices at the pump over a dollar per litre, there's no better time than the present to  reduce idling, maintain our vehicles, and drive less aggressively - actions that will help us save fuel.

For more information on the benefits of being idle-free please visit the Vehicle Idling webpage.
