NOTICE OF PUBLIC INFORMATION MEETING
Public Notice is hereby given that a Public Information Meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 16, 2010, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM (brief presentation at 4:30 pm) at the Sonora Community Centre to provide the public with information regarding the following:
Community Climate Action Plan
The South Okanagan Similkameen Climate Action Planning Project is a collaborative effort between the Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen (RDOS) and its member municipalities including Osoyoos and Area ‘A’, to develop corporate and community climate action plans to meet their voluntary commitments under the provincial Climate Action Charter, as well as their legislated obligations under the Local Government (Green Communities) Statutes Amendment Act (Bill 27, 2008).
This meeting will provide an overview of the Community Climate Action Plans for the: (1) Town of Osoyoos; (2) Electoral Area ‘A’ and; (3) RDOS. The Climate Action Plan’s purpose is to set a target to reduce emissions of Green House Gases, by selecting potential implementation actions, such as green building construction, alternative energy use, less vehicle dependent development, and alternative transportation.
The meeting will include a presentation and question and answer period, followed by informal discussion and information-sharing. Attendees will be invited to share their input on the Climate Action Plans.
