Canada’s Citizenship Award was first established in 1987 as part of the 40th Anniversary of Canadian Citizenship celebrations. Each year our nation celebrates the achievements and contributions of eminent Canadians who go above and beyond their civic duty to assist newcomers to Canada to successfully integrate into Canadian society, or who have put into practice the rights and responsibilities of Canadian citizenship.
