NOTICE OF NOMINATION
PUBLIC NOTICE is given to the electors of the Town of Osoyoos that nominations for the office of:
Water Councillor - One (1) to be elected
For a 3 (three) year term November 2019 - November 2022
Nominations will be received by the Chief Election Officer or a designated person, as follows:
By hand, mail or other delivery service: |
From 9:00 am Tuesday, September 17, 2019 to 4:00 pm Friday, September 27, 2019 |
By Fax to: 250-495-2400 |
From 9:00 am Tuesday, September 17, 2019 Originals of faxed or emailed nomination |
Nomination documents are available at the Town of Osoyoos, Town Office, 8707 Main Street, Osoyoos, BC, V0H 1V0, between 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM Monday through Friday excluding Statutory Holidays, or on the Town’s website at www.osoyoos.ca from August 29, 2019 to the close of nomination period (September 27, 2019).
QUALIFICATIONS FOR OFFICE
A person is qualified to be nominated, elected, and to hold office as a Water Councillor for the Town of Osoyoos if they meet the following criteria:
- Canadian citizen;
- 18 years of age or older;
- resident of British Columbia for at least 6 months immediately before the day nomination papers are filed;
- a person or the commander of an armed forces unit who has been granted freedom of the municipality, if that person is a Canadian citizen;
- not disqualified by the Local Government Act or any other enactment from voting in an election in British Columbia or from being nominated for, being elected to, or holding office; and
- must be resident in and user of water in the area serviced by Osoyoos Water District System 8 or 9
CAMPAIGN PERIOD EXPENSE LIMITS
In accordance with the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act, for the 2019 by-election, the following expense limits for candidates during the campaign period apply:
Water Councillor $5,000
THIRD PARTY ADVERTISING LIMITS
In accordance with the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act, for the 2019 by-election, the following third party advertising limits apply:
Water Councillor $750
