REGULAR OPEN MEETING
Bylaws
- Revenue Anticipation Borrowing Bylaw No. 1326, 2016 was given three readings. This bylaw authorizes the Municipality to borrow to meet current expenditures and pay amounts to meet the municipalities taxing obligations.
- Municipal Ticket Information Amendment Bylaw No. 1279.10, 2016 was Adopted. This bylaw attaches fines to the new Animal Control Bylaw.
- Waste Management Services and Regulations Amendment Bylaw No. 1309.02, 2016 was Adopted. This bylaw increases rates due to increase costs for mattress recycling.
Business
- Aerated Lagoon #3 Sludge Removal was awarded to Aqua Clear Environmental Services. This project consists of dewatering and desludging Cell No. 3 in preparation for the old liner removal and the installation of new aerators and cell liner in 2017.
- Inflatable Waterpark Council approved a Request for proposals for an inflatable waterpark.
- Community Support for Accommodation Sharing Economy - Council directs Administration to write a letter on behalf of the Town supporting the request of the Osoyoos Hotel and Motel Association (OHMA) and approves adding the support of the Town to the letter.
- Affordable Housing Authority (AHA) Policy – Council approved the Affordable Housing Authority (AHA) Policy PLA-018.
Reports
- Councillor Youngberg visited RCMP and Ambulance personnel to thank them for their service.
- Councillor Youngberg attended the Chamber of Commerce meet and greet. New businesses in town.
- Councillor Rhodes congratulated 4 individuals on new Affordable Housing Committee.Councillor Campol attended the School District 53 board meeting.
- Councillor attended the budget meeting on Friday December 16th.
- Councillor King attended the South Okanagan Business after Business meeting at Inkameep Culture Centre.
- Mayor McKortoff attended the Osoyoos Elementary School Christmas Concert at the Sonora Centre Gym.
- Mayor McKortoff Thanked staff especially Tamara Morgan for the Rocking with Santa event.
- Mayor McKortoff advised that MLA Linda Larson is requesting comments on rural education. Please check her website to comment.
- Mayor McKortoff advised that there were many comments on the closing of the Gyro Park washroom. Council had to make this difficult decision to close and it was not made lightly. There are some other washrooms available.

The public is encouraged to attend the Committee of the Whole meetings which take place in Council Chambers at 9:00AM on the morning of the Regular Open Council meetings at 2:00 PM to learn additional in-depth information regarding upcoming business.
