Regular Open
BYLAWS
- That the Fire Hall Temporary Borrowing Bylaw No. 1321, 2016 be adopted. This bylaw allows for Council to temporarily borrow funds without further assents or approvals.
- That the Development Cost Charge Bylaw No. 1322, 2016 be read a first, second and third time. This bylaw sets out DCC charges which developers will have to pay for infrastructure projects.
- That the Zoning Amendment Bylaw No. 1085.99, 2016 be read a first and second time. This bylaw deals with marihuana operations.
- That a Public Hearing be set for July 18, 2016 at 4:00 PM in Council Chambers for public input on the proposed new Zoning Amendment Bylaw.
BUSINESS
- Council approved and authorized the issuance of a Development Variance Permit DVP 16-01 for 11 Magnolia Place
- Council approved the Tourism Marketing Agreement with Destination Osoyoos and directed that Town of Osoyoos signatories be authorized to sign the agreement
- Council directed Administration to set up meetings with the following at the UBCM Convention:
- Minister of Finance Hon. Michael de Jong;
- Minister of Education Hon. Mike Bernier;
- Minister of Transportation Hon. Todd Stone;
- Hon. Premier Christie Clark
- Councillor Rhodes was appointed as Acting Mayor for July 13 – 25, 2016
REPORTS
- Council thanked everyone in Osoyoos for their efforts to keep Osoyoos Secondary School open. Shows the spirit and character of the Community.
- Councillor King attended Music in the Park and encouraged everyone to attend future performances.
- Council thanked the Osoyoos Festival Society for putting on a great Cherry Fiesta.
- Appreciated the “animals” from the Fire Department for their float and helping out with the fireworks.
- Congratulated the 2016-2017 Royalty Queen Emaleigh Diwell and Princesses Laura Devries and Taryn Aspell.
- Mayor McKortoff attended a Highway 3 Mayor Coalition Tourism Sub-Committee meeting in Rossland with Mayors from Hope to the Alberta Border. Trying to brand the highway as the “Electric highway”. Many communities are adding electric charging stations to their communities.

The public is encouraged to attend the Committee of the Whole meetings which take place in Council Chambers at 9:00AM on the morning of the Regular Open Council meetings at 2:00 PM to learn additional in-depth information regarding upcoming business.
