COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MEETING

Petitions and Delegations

  • Jayme Friedt, Managing Director of the Osoyoos Desert Centre, presented to Council requesting that the fees be waived for the disposal of their current treated wood boardwalk as these costs were not included in the budget for their boardwalk replacement project. Town staff were directed to provide Council with options on how to proceed with this request.

Staff Reports

  • Council nominated the Osoyoos Food Bank for the 2021 Community Giving Award sponsored by FortisBC. Councillor Harvey declared a perceived conflict of interest as he is the Commodore of the Osoyoos Sailing Club and recused himself from the meeting during the nomination process.
  • Council directed staff to move forward with the option for the Legion Beach Washrooms which includes three fully accessible washroom units (one with a shower), one standard washroom, two accessible family change rooms, and three outdoor shower heads. This new washroom facility will be constructed to allow for all season use with the change rooms and outdoor showers being summer use only.
  • Council approved the Osoyoos Airport Construction Management Agreement between the Osoyoos Airport Development Society and the Town of Osoyoos and appointed Councillor Harvey to the Project Management Committee. Council also committed $10,000.00 from the Economic Development Budget to the airport projects described in the agreement.
