EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY Community Programmer Deadline October 8

The Resort Municipality of Osoyoos, BC, located in the beautiful South Okanagan Valley, is accepting applications for the position of Community Programmer.

Position Information

The Town of Osoyoos is seeking an individual motivated to assist the Town's Community Services department to perform functions related to the facilitation and provision of community programs and services.

Reporting to the Program Supervisor, the Community Programmer assists with booking for all facilities and playing fields under the jurisdiction of the department, maintaining and coordinating rentals and programs, and ensuring staff and other user groups are informed. The Community Programmer assists with developing and maintaining records of the Community Services directory and other brochures and handouts as required.

The ideal candidate has strong communication and organizational skills, as the Community Programmer is responsible for planning, implementing, and promoting community events and initiatives. Further, the Community Programmer is required to respond to counter, telephone, and email inquiries from the public.

The preferred candidate will have a Diploma in Community Programming or equivalent, high school graduation supplemented by recognized certificates in community or recreation program delivery and First Aid. The successful applicant will be required to obtain and pass a Police Information Check including working with vulnerable people. A Class 5 Driver Licence is required, however a Class 4 Drivers Licence would be an asset.

This position is a full-time unionized position that is 35 hours/week. The hourly rate is $23.44 - $26.04, plus an attractive benefits package.

It is Canada's only true desert with the lowest annual precipitation and Sonoran Desert flora and fauna. Surrounded by stunning vistas, beautiful vineyards, fabulous golf courses and other outdoor amenities, it is an extraordinary area to visit, play in, and live.
