The Resort Municipality of Osoyoos, BC, located in the beautiful South Okanagan Valley, is accepting applications for the position of Deputy Corporate Officer.

Position Information

Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services, this full-time management exempt position is responsible for assisting the department in meeting the legislative requirements set out in the Community Charter, Local Government Act, and other relevant statutes in the administration of those Acts. The Deputy Corporate Officer is required to perform a variety of professional administrative and corporate duties while maintaining a high degree of confidentiality.

The Deputy Corporate Officer is required to compile and distribute meeting agendas, reports and supporting material, and track decisions and action items. This position will attend Council and Committee meetings as required and is responsible for the administration of the Municipal Ticketing system as well as the maintenance of the Action Tracking system.

The Deputy Corporate Officer acts as the Corporate Officer in the absence of the Director of Corporate Services, and serves as the Deputy FOI Coordinator and Deputy Chief Election Officer.

The Deputy Corporate Officer is required to prepare written communications, memos, reports, and application forms and is responsible for the consolidation of bylaws, maintenance of the Policy and Procedure manual, and performs other work as directed by the Director of Corporate Services.

The preferred candidate will possess a Degree or Diploma in Public or Local Government Administration or Certificate in Local Government Administration, 4 years experience in a Local Government organization, knowledge of the Local Government Act, Community Charter and other acts, and have extensive knowledge of computer programs. The preferred candidate is able to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings.

It is Canada's only true desert with the lowest annual precipitation and Sonoran Desert flora and fauna.
