Employment Opportunity for Operational Services Manager
The resort municipality of Osoyoos, BC located in the beautiful south Okanagan Valley, approximately 60 km south of Penticton on the BC/Washington State border, is seeking an Operational Services Manager. Osoyoos is situated in a unique and special environment that includes the warmest freshwater lake in Canada and the warmest annual temperature. It is Canada’s only true desert with the lowest annual precipitation and Sonoran Desert flora and fauna. Surrounded by stunning vistas, beautiful vineyards, fabulous golf courses and other outdoor amenities it is an extraordinary area to visit, play and live.
Osoyoos is seeking a motivated individual to coordinate, assign and review the work of 17 – 20 staff in the Operational Services Department. This position reports to the Director of Operational Services and will work cooperatively with diverse work groups in the organization and have the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with the public, external agencies and organizations and liaise effectively with other Departments.
This position plans and develops strategies for the most effective use of available resources to complete the numerous maintenance activities the Operational Services crew perform on a daily basis including Water Distribution, Sewer Collection and Treatment, roads and parks. The successful candidate will provide input on hiring of external contractors for various maintenance activities and administer the commissioning process for each capital asset and verifies that inspections, approvals, certificates, warranties, operating and maintenance manuals, and as-built drawings have been completed.
This position also provides input in the planning for future infrastructure needs and troubleshoots all aspects of public works operations.
The Operational Services Manager acts as the Director of Operational Services in the absence of the Operational Services Director.
If you hold the following qualifications, Osoyoos offers a challenging opportunity!
- Member in good standing with Applied Science Technologists & Technicians of BC (ASTTBC) or equivalent;
- Understand and apply methods and procedures of road/park works, water/sewer distribution systems installation and maintenance;
- Level 1 First Aid with transportation endorsement;
- Fluid in all WHMIS AND WorkSafe BC Regulations
- Understanding of the operations of the SCADA system;
- Minimum 5 years supervisory experience required;
- Ability to work on a number of concurrent tasks with deadline pressures;
- Provide quality customer service including courteously and expeditiously responding to enquiries;
- Demonstrated computer skills in Microsoft Office products - Outlook, Word,
- Current and Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License.
