EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY Parks Maintenance Specialist Deadline July 2

The Resort Municipality of Osoyoos, BC, located in the beautiful South Okanagan Valley, is accepting applications for the position of Parks Maintenance Specialist.

Position Information

The Parks Maintenance Specialist performs a variety of horticulture and turf maintenance work including weeding, fertilizing, pruning, and planting duties in the Town's parks, trails, and facilities. The Parks Maintenance Specialist also performs integrated pest management and inspects Town trees for hazards and maintains the inventory of Town trees. The Parks Maintenance Specialist assists the supervisor in the development and ongoing maintenance of tree, turf, and plant management plan(s).

The Parks Maintenance Specialist will work with the irrigation system operators for the Town of Osoyoos to ensure effective and efficient watering in Town parks and facilities. The Parks Maintenance Specialist will be required to perform the duties of a Utility Operator to fill operational needs as they arise. The ideal candidate will be able to answer routine questions and inquiries from the public and contractors related to gardening, tree, and pest control practices.

The ideal candidate will have completed a two-year diploma in arboriculture or horticulture supplemented with a minimum of two-years experience in a municipal government or private arboriculture/landscape nursery business. A current valid Class 5 Driver's Licence and a valid BC Pesticide/Herbicide Applicators Licence is required.

This position is a full-time unionized position that is 40 hours/week. The hourly rate is $27.95 - $33.06 per hour, plus an attractive benefits package.
