The first voting opportunity for the Water Councillor By-Election for the Town of Osoyoos Water District Systems 8 and 9 was held on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 in the Town Hall Council Chamber. 22 people cast their ballots.
A second Advance Voting Opportunity will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 from 8 AM to 8 PM and General Voting will take place on Saturday, November 2, 2019 from 8 AM to 8 PM. All voting will take place in the Town office Council Chamber located at 8707 Main Street, Osoyoos, BC. Voters must bring 2 pieces of identification to the polls, at least one of which contains the voter’s signature, in order to register.
Voting is open to those who are residents or owners of property, and a user of water in the area serviced by Osoyoos Water District System 8 or 9 located in Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen Area “A” (exclusive of those areas within the Town of Osoyoos) for at least 30 days immediately preceding the day of registration and meet the eligibility requirements under the Local Government Act. It is estimated there are 1,100 eligible voters for this by-election.
Water Councillors represent the water district users at the Council table and vote only on matters relating to Water District System 8 and 9.
