Public Notice is hereby given that a Public Hearing will be held on Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at 7:00pm in the Town of Osoyoos Council Chambers, located at 8707 Main Street to consider Zoning Amendment Bylaw 1085.85, 2012, which stipulates the following:
- Metal storage containers are defined as an intermodal shipping container originally constructed for shipping freight or cargo by sea, rail, or truck, which is placed on a lot and is used as an accessory structure for storage purposes only.
- Containers shall not be stacked, altered in any way, used for living accommodation, accessible to the general public, or rented as a commercial storage facility.
- Only permit two new metal storage containers in Agricultural and Industrial zones.
- From industrial zoned businesses, the containers can be rented, leased or sold for offsite use.
- In all zones containers may be used as temporary storage on a lot when a building permit has been issued.
Certain properties with existing metal storage containers are currently in contravention of sections of Town of Osoyoos Zoning Bylaw 1085, 1998, and enforcement action will be taken; however other containers may continue as existing non-conforming structures.
All persons will be given an opportunity to be heard and to present written submissions on the matter above. Written submissions can be mailed to the undersigned or emailed to tosoyoos@osoyoos.ca (The Town will only guarantee that emails received to this address will form part of the Council Agenda.) The deadline for written submissions is 12:00pm (Noon) Friday, March 30, 2012.
A copy of the amendment bylaw and accompanying documents may be inspected at www.osoyoos.ca or the Department of Planning and Development Services, located at 8711 Main Street from 8:00am to 4:00pm from Wednesday, March 21, 2012, to Friday, March 30, 2012, excluding Saturdays and Sundays.
